Iowa Butter Cow Print

I recently finished another state themed block print – this time in homage to our current state of Iowa.  We don’t have a catch phrase like y’all to work with, so I went with something the state fair theme.  I know that plenty of states have state fairs, but I promise you, they have NOTHINGContinue reading “Iowa Butter Cow Print”

Oven Baked Zucchini Chips + RAGBRAI

Summer in Iowa means a lot of things – one thing is RAGBRAI – Register’s Annual Bike Ride Across Iowa.   We decided to ride the leg from Perry to Des Moines last Tuesday.  This is a beautiful way to see rural Iowa.  This was a peach pocket pie stop in the midst of aContinue reading “Oven Baked Zucchini Chips + RAGBRAI”

Demolition + July 4 Family Fun

Are you a friend or family member in Des Moines and you feel like you have yet to really see my family this summer?  My apologies -we hope this all settles down with the demolition dust soon.  Greensboro people, if you have not heard from me yet, again, my apologies!   Let me take youContinue reading “Demolition + July 4 Family Fun”

The Perfect Cherry Pie – A Family Event

One of the things I love about being at my parents’ house are the gardens and fruit orchards.  Each year is a little different too, depending on what it is a good year for.   The summer of 2013 is a cherry year for sure.       This is only a fraction of theContinue reading “The Perfect Cherry Pie – A Family Event”

New House: Completed Play Room

We have been feverishly working on the house the past couple weeks.  I am happy to show you the first completed room.  We chose one of the bedrooms with built-ins to be a playroom for Greta and a possible guest room as well.  Here is the before shot.  It was a lovely shade ofContinue reading “New House: Completed Play Room”

A Greensboro Goodbye + Move to Iowa

This is a lengthy post and long overdue.  But, I felt I had to put in some effort, in saying good bye to a place and a group of people who have captured my heart for the past eight years.  The goodbyes started with one last dinner at Sticks & Stones Wood Fired Pizza.  OhContinue reading “A Greensboro Goodbye + Move to Iowa”

The Flying Circus Whirlwind Trip to Iowa

Oh my, how much can change in the span of a week.  Our house is so quiet these days, as these two doofuses are now residents of the state of Iowa.  We flew to Iowa a couple weekends ago to drop the cats off with my parents, look at houses, and for me to interviewContinue reading “The Flying Circus Whirlwind Trip to Iowa”

Iowa New Year’s Eve + Curried Pea & Potato Croquettes

The Christmas trip to Iowa wound down too soon this year.  We did make time to take a trip to the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines, with Greta, Eric, and my in-laws.   She was mesmerized by this spiral ball contraption.  Her newest word is, “ball!”   She wasn’t as into the fishing,Continue reading “Iowa New Year’s Eve + Curried Pea & Potato Croquettes”

Gluten-free Black Forest Cake + Christmas Day

This chocolate cake was wildly delicious and one would never guess it was gluten-free!  My mother in law has a plethora of gluten-free baking and food items around the house due to gluten intolerance.  This particular cake was made from the Williams-Sonoma Ad Hoc Gluten Free Cake Mix.  This mix is more expensive than others,Continue reading “Gluten-free Black Forest Cake + Christmas Day”
