Gershwin, collage & ink on paper, 2010. This is the original artwork for the invitations to our 3rd annual back porch concert. I photocopied this image with the information on the back. The concert itself was actually folk music and bluegrass, but I wanted to pay homage to Gershwin and his ode to summer.

show & commission piece
My show came down today which means my Hurricane collage will be moving to a new home this week. I have been working on the cat commission piece all week, it is amazing how many hours are spent just organizing, collecting, and cutting paper in preparation for a collage. It took about 4 hours justContinue reading “show & commission piece”
sold a collage!
I sold this collage today! The person who bought it liked it because he teaches astronomy and to him it looked more like a galaxy than a hurricane. Maybe I should make a few more, change the name to Galaxy, and see if I can sell some more… Another person at church asked if IContinue reading “sold a collage!”
hurricane collage
I finished a new collage this week. My inspiration for this one came from my week-long course at Ocracoke in March with NCCAT (North Carolina Center for Advancement of Teaching). The seminar topic was sea level rise and the impact on the coast. One of our speakers discussed hurricanes and I started drawing a radarContinue reading “hurricane collage”
new collage
I finished another collage during spring break right before we headed out of town. This one one was an idea I had in the car during the trip to D.C. The turn around on this piece was phenomenal for me. Circles, Collage on paper, graphite on paper, 2010.
Sampler Camera
I finally got the photos from the sampler camera back (see ad below), and the results are wonderful! This camera is so much fun and the anticipation from the start of shooting the photo to the finished step of processing the roll is one of the reasons I still like to use film. Besides, theContinue reading “Sampler Camera”
spring and Beard & Moustache Club Anniversary
I looked outside my kitchen window this morning and saw this: These crocus are blooming all over the plot of earth behind the garage. What a welcome site a little color on the land can be. My daffodils have buds, but no blooms as of yet. We went to the 3rd Anniversary Celebrations forContinue reading “spring and Beard & Moustache Club Anniversary”
DC weekend escape
Eric and I went to DC last weekend to catch up with a couple friends – Aaron and Elliot. We drove up on Friday and stayed in a great hotel – the Double Tree Inn – overlooking the Pentagon. When we arrived, we were told that we had been upgraded to a junior suite dueContinue reading “DC weekend escape”
Latest collage work
A Conscious Choice, mixed media on paper, 18 x 24″, 2010. This is my newest completed collage. I have been struggling to finish this one for a while now. The best decision I made was to put it out of sight for the last few months. A brand new perspective on it was an importantContinue reading “Latest collage work”
Jellyfish print
When you have a week of snow days – we went to school on Thursday only last week and that was only for 5 hours – you have plenty of time to make your own art. I managed to finish this series of prints of jellyfish. I ordered some new ink before the snow days,Continue reading “Jellyfish print”
